My most sincere condolences on the loss of Elena. I met Elena in 1981, when I was hired in the Volunteer Office at Red Cross in Peoria. She was to be my secretary for the next 2 years. It often occurred to me that I should have been HER secretary! She was so smart, excellent at running the entire office, and one of the kindest people I have ever met. She would do anything to help me, as I was so young and inexperienced. We spent many hours chatting about Argentina, Ireland, her children, her husband, and her very interesting life. I learned a great deal from Elena. I admired her passionate spirit, and loved the time we shared. She gave me a beautiful glass box that I still have, and treasure. Although we lost touch through the years, I will forever remember her as a dear friend and beautiful soul.
